These days ÍSOR is working on a review of data from two geothermal areas in El Salvador. These are projects in East Ahuachapan and in Conchagua. The project is carried out for the Directorate for International Development Cooperation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and is in cooperation with the World Bank.
Three specialists on behalf of ÍSOR are now on a field trip to these geothermal areas together with La Geo, which is a geothermal energy company in El Salvador. La Geo operates two geothermal power plants in El Salvador, Ahuachapan and Berlin, which both have about 100 MW of installed capacity.
The project consists of reviewing data that LaGeo has collected and processing the data, as well as drilling results. Part of the work is also a review of conceptual models and geothermal resource assessment.
This is done in close cooperation with LaGeo.
The work is expected to be completed at the beginning of summer.
