A successful two-week course of the Geothermal Training Programme (Jarðhitaskólinn) and the geothermal company LaGeo in El Salvador concluded on Sunday. The course was held at LaGeo's headquarters in Santa Tecla near the capital San Salvador, and it was attended by guests from the geothermal industry from all over Central and South America, as well as LaGeo staff.
The Geothermal Training Programme and LaGeo jointly handled the preparations, but in addition to the locals there were Icelandic instructors and ÍSOR staff, namely Helga Tulinius, Bjarni Richter, Daði Þorbjörnsson, Gunnar Skúlason Kaldal and Jón Einar Jónsson, and not least Málfríður Ómarsdóttir, project manager of the Geothermal Training Programme. Several lectures were also delivered over the internet from various companies in Iceland. The course participants were enthusiastic, eager to take part in discussion and ask questions, and their countries are at varying stages in geothermal utilization.
Attached are photos from the course, field trips, as well as sightseeing tours that there was an opportunity to go on when time allowed. El Salvador is a particularly beautiful country to visit.
