ÍSOR, Iceland GeoSurvey, is now moving its operations to Kópavogur, and regular operations begin there on Monday 17 January.

ÍSOR's laboratory and the activities of the Geothermal Training Program, which is operated under the auspices of UNESCO, will also be there.

ÍSOR's equipment operations will be in the immediate vicinity, at Tónahvarf 7.

The operation of the branch in Akureyri will continue unchanged.

With the move, all of ÍSOR's working facilities are brought to a more modern standard, while at the same time efficiency in operations is increased.

ÍSOR's move marks a milestone in the operation of the institution, which from the beginning has had its premises at Orkugarður at Grensásvegur 9. The history of the institution and its predecessors now spans nearly 80 years, but for about half of that time the operations have taken place at the same location.
